aryn the arteest

i'm well familiar with the insatiable need to express oneself through creative means, as well as the frustration from the lack of having a creative outlet to do so. after dedicating my high school and college years to performing theatrically, i became burnt out. eager to satisfy my need to create, i went back to my roots in visual arts.

before i would delve into making art work, i spent my time reading and learning about skills that i hadn't been exposed to during my time spent in the talented in art program in elementary school. i started out investigating mixed media before moving onto acrylic painting. from the research i gathered, i stocked up my own arsenal of techniques that i would use a combination of to make interesting textures as well as dynamic imagery.

a finished piece almost never ends up being what i had originally intended on creating. somewhere along the way i'll make what i would consider to be a mistake, which influences me to explore the new potential of the work. i take what i have so far and work my way forward, not by camouflaging my error, but by embracing it. the happy accidents that i've made during the art making process have taught me lessons on how to face set backs in my day to day life. my days may not end up as planned, but i can learn to appreciate that the end of the day will still come, just like the final stroke of a painting. new day, new canvas.
